Theme
The Pappus Parachute
Pappus: the feathery hairs attached to the seed of a dandelion acting as a parachute. This parachute catches in the wind and allows the seed to be dispersed across substantial distances. The pappus parachute represents the physical and cultural differences we encounter in regards to our traditions and history, emphasizing exploration of new and novel grounds. Conversely, the pappus also carries with it the original seed, symbolizing the preservation of our own roots and identities even in the face of an unfamiliar environment.
